Little Green House, based in South Florida, is dedicated to providing the very best in green building materials and home goods. We started this journey in 2005 because we wanted to make a change on our own lives to be better stewards of the environment.
The products we selected are all products we would use in our own home. In fact, we use most of what we have in stock right now. We also took the time to have samples of the products sent to us for our own internal testing before deciding which ones made the cut. The manufacturers are all leading the industry in designing and producing healthier products for our homes, offices and our environment. The green community of manufacturers and retailers also recognize that if you’re trying to make a change, the change includes our business practices, too. What good is a green product if the company behind it isn’t making strides to insure fair wages, fair trade, and a healthy environment for their employees? These are the parameters that were met before deciding to take on any product line.
Some perceptions of green products are that they don’t work as well (cleaners, paints & plumbing fixtures), that they won’t last as long (flooring), or that they are out of reach in terms of price. Most of our products are comparable in price to their counterparts, and they are being used in commercial applications that have more than exceeded conventional products’ performance. Organic food took most of the blow as far as the price shock. You can see how many food products proudly display their organic ingredients. We are now getting better choices because the food manufacturers know that we’re willing to spend a little more money to insure we are eating something free of pesticides and chemicals. The home owner is also agreeing to spend a bit more to insure their environment is safe to be in and is also consuming less.
We think the public as a whole has become significantly more aware of their choices and how they affect the environment. We’d like to encourage them to ask questions about the things they purchase. Where was it made? How was it made? How will it affect me, my family, the environment? What value does that have for me?
We’ve never pushed anyone into buying green. We’ve never had to- our customers are hungry for the information. They want to know what they can do and how the products help. From our own personal experience, we started collecting rain water which led to composting and that led to organic gardening ....it continues everyday as we try to be conscious of our actions. We started this company hoping that we could offer the smallest change such as light bulb* to bigger changes such as home remodeling and building.

* Previously, we offered CFL's on our site, but, after much internal testing, we have decided that LED's are by far a more superior product and we'll be adding them to the site shortly.
